For all Brazil travelers, it’s important to keep up to date when it comes to required travel visas to avoid hassles entering the country. That’s why we’ve brought you important information about the new guidelines issued by the Brazilian government for Americans, Canadians and Australians planning to travel to Brazil.
According to the VSF.GLOBAL visa expedition website (and the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Relations), Brazil reinstated visa requirements for citizens of the United States, Australia, and Canada on April 10, 2025. Since that date, travelers from these countries are required to obtain an Electronic Visa (eVisa) prior to entering Brazil. If you already hold a previously issued physical visa that is still valid and aligned with the purpose of your visit, there is no need to apply for a new one. However, travelers who do not have a valid visa must obtain an eVisa before traveling.
We strongly recommend applying for the eVisa in advance to avoid potential travel disruptions, such as delays or denied boarding, as airlines may require proof of a valid visa prior to departure.
The cost of the visa will be $80.90 USD per person and will be valid for 5 years for Canadians and Australians and 10 years for Americans. Although visas have these validity periods, it’s worth remembering that you can stay in Brazil for a maximum of 90 days a year with this new visa.
As of January 2026, Brazil has also begun requiring visas for Chinese citizens. For more information about this update, please follow this link.
