ANCINE REGISTRATION - THE BASICS

If you are planning to shoot a film, TV, or video project in Brazil, one of the most critical steps is registering your production with ANCINE, the Brazilian government’s regulatory agency for film and TV shoots. Doing so, avoids potential hassles at the airport or elsewhere for the foreign crew traveling to Brazil.

At Brazil Production Services (BPS), we specialize in helping international producers navigate this process smoothly and efficiently.

What is ANCINE and why do you need to register?

If you are planning to shoot a film, TV, or video project in Brazil, one of the most critical steps is registering your production with ANCINE, the Brazilian government’s regulatory agency for film and TV shoots. Doing so avoids potential hassles at the airport or elsewhere for the foreign crew traveling to Brazil.

At Brazil Production Services (BPS), we specialize in helping international producers navigate this process smoothly and efficiently.

By partnering with BPS, you ensure your project meets all legal and regulatory requirements, including potentially getting your crew proper business visas, and avoiding potential delays or legal issues that may arise due to non-compliance with the local rules.

HOW DO YOU REGISTER A PROJECT WITH ANCINE?

Foreign producers cannot directly register with ANCINE. You must collaborate with a Brazilian production company, such as BPS, that is duly registered and vetted by ANCINE to do so.

Once you reach out to us, we’ll handle the entire registration process on your behalf, ensuring all documents are correctly submitted. Here’s what we’ll need to get started:

A signed service contract between your company and BPS that confirms our co-production service agreement.

A preliminary production schedule with details and locations where you plan to film in Brazil.

Scans of the passport information pages for all foreign crew members involved in the production that will travel to Brazil, and a list that points out their appropriate roles.

Once these documents are submitted, and assuming all paperwork is in order, the ANCINE registration typically takes about five to ten business days to be issued by the government.

If, after initial submission of the paperwork, there are any changes to your production plan, such as crew adjustments or schedule modifications, BPS will work with ANCINE on your behalf to update the details. This process may take another five to ten business days for processing.
