ANITTA: GET TO KNOW ME
Type of Project: Music Video
Shoot Location: Los Angeles, California, USA
Company: Barry Company (Brazil)
For Anitta: Get To Know Me, Brazil Production Services produced a shoot in three premium locations in Los Angeles, including a famous beach location, a swank mansion in the hills and a classic American diner. BPS provided the full crew, equipment, transportation and logistics for the shoot, delivering a expert services in the US for an artist used to working in Brazil.
Director João Papa — who also served as the video’s cinematographer — brought the following creative concept to the project: a world in which everyone around the singer is a mannequin. While Anitta performed her choreography and sang, everyone around her stood frozen and paralyzed — except her.
BPS secured historic locations for the video, which was shot over the course of one very production intense day.
The day began at Paradise Cove Beach — a private beach that contains a famous restaurant in Malibu. The beach has served as the setting for music videos by major artists such as Coldplay, Fergie, Madonna and Britney Spears. It was also where the Beach Boys shot photos for one of their album covers and where Marilyn Monroe once did a photo shoot. The same beach has also served as a filming location for numerous Hollywood movies and series such as X-Men, Indecent Proposal, American Pie 2, Baywatch, Lethal Weapon 4 and many others.
For this video, we partially closed off the Paradise Cove parking lot to serve as a base for our crew and our vehicles, and shot the beach scenes on the sand.
After the beach, we moved on to our next location, the “Dawnridge” house in Beverly Hills, whose neighbor is actress Sharon Stone. The stunning property was built in 1949 by Tony Duquette, an acclaimed Los Angeles artist and designer.
Purchased by the Wilkinson family after the designer’s death in 2000, the house features rich, one-of-a-kind décor. Adorned with 17th-century paintings, satin curtains, silk sofas, bronze pieces, Chinese porcelain and 18th-century furniture, the residence has hosted numerous photo shoots over the years: Salma Hayek for InStyle magazine, Shakira and Reese Witherspoon for Harper’s Bazaar, and James Franco, who was photographed there for Man About Town magazine. A promotional video for Selena Gomez’s song Come and Get It was also filmed at the mansion. The property also features a lake full of fish and expansive gardens connected by bridges and outdoor structures.
We wrapped the day of filming at the famous Pann’s Diner, in classic American diner style.
The restaurant has been featured in films such as Triple X (2002) with Vin Diesel and Samuel L. Jackson, Next (2007) with Nicolas Cage, and Bewitched, starring Nicole Kidman.
