For this meta-reboot with Jack Black and Paul Rudd of the original 1997 feature film, Brazil Production Services was tapped by the project’s producers to provide a package of second unit production services in the Brazilian Amazon near Manaus and some blue screen captures of a capuchin monkey at a animal sanctuary near São Paulo.
The main unit of the film was shot primarily in Australia. The project eventually went to Brazil to get authentic Brazilian Amazon b-roll such as in the captured images below:
In the Amazon, BPS’s scope included coordinating a complex helicopter cinematography unit which was accomplished by hiring a São Paul based Stab-C team to capture fast moving aerials of the rivers and lush stretches of jungle with vintage lenses. See some behind the scenes stills of our set up and helicopter shoot are shown below:
In the Amazon, throughout several locations near the Rio Negro, we also shot from the ground, from boats and with drones. Below are some picture highlights:
And finally, near São Paulo, the BPS crew also captured blue screen images of a capuchin monkey that was used in a a suspenseful scene in the film.
And here’s how the monkey scene came out in the finished film:
