SPECIALTY EQUIPMENT FOR AERIAL SHOOTS IN BRAZIL
In the past, we have facilitated shoots that required temporarily importing specialized equipment, such as Shotover stabilization systems, for international companies shooting in Brazil that required those systems. Unfortunately, Shotover systems are not available for local rental in Brazil, so the equipment needs to be imported temporarily.
The process can be laborious and costly, but it’s possible and we have done it before and can assist you with it. We can actually coordinate the entire procurement process for you if you so wish, from the rental of the system in the United States, to the shipment of the system via freight-forwarder to Brazil, to the booking of the right Shotover technician to set up and operate the system for you in Brazil. SHOTOVER VERSUS STAB-C
While we don’t have Shotover systems in Brazil currently, we do work with a very experienced vendor out of São Paulo that has the older but effective Stab-C system. We have used it on several shoots, including one for a big-budget Hollywood film, and got great results.
The Stab-C system – for awesome, stabilized helicopter aerials – is a much cheaper and truly local solution that we can offer you that will save you money and time when compared to the importation of a Shotover system. WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT BRAZIL’S AERIAL REGULATIONS
Brazil has established clear rules for aerial filming, as set by the National Civil Aviation Agency of Brazil (ANAC) as well as the Department for Airspace Control (DECEA) which, together, form the Brazilian equivalent of the Federal Aviation Administration in the United States.
These regulations require drone operators to be registered, insured and certified locally to fly legally within Brazilian airspace.
Additionally, flight plans must be submitted and approved ahead of time, especially in areas with busy or restricted airspaces such as Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo.
